Pamet brings web technology to a tie-in marketing incentive program

Challenge

Ascend Communications, a global leader in ISP hardware and now a part of Lucent Technologies, needed to attract burgeoning ISPs to choose Ascend products. As this market grew more and more, competitive key potential customers were going elsewhere to buy their hardware. As a result, Ascend had to offer a powerful incentive to remain competitive or lose business.

Pamet's Solution

Pamet developed and deployed a Web based application with which Ascend centralized information on ISPs using Ascend's equipment effectively building a global ISP directory.
This site was widely promoted by Ascend among the end users that came to this location in search of ISP that can provide the services they require - a perfect way for Ascend to funnel business to its' loyal ISPs.
Someone living in Topeka, Kansas, can enter local information, then the type of service they desire (T3, ISDN, dial-up) and instantly a list of ISPs in their region appears. A resident of Cairo, Egypt, has access to the same information.
At the same time, each ISP in the directory had access to its information and was able to manage the data via a Web interface. Providing up-to-date information to users interested in their services was easy to administer. Ascend could also edit programs for the purposes of up-selling and enhancing targeted marketing programs.
This system proved to be a great incentive for ISPs to purchase products and services from Ascend and benefit from the value-add Ascend provided in directing business to them via this system.

Benefits to the Client

By deploying a unique application that functions as a worldwide directory for ISPs, Ascend is able to provide a service to its customer (and more importantly their customers) that is not available anywhere else on the Web. Client retention was dramatically increased while new client acquisition is heavily supported via this value-added service.
